An Organization Library is a secure way to share videos within your organization. Usually, the library contains videos that exemplify best practices that are important to your organization. Videos may range from a full whole group lesson to a short two-minute video that focuses on a specific teaching strategy.
All of the videos within the Organization Library can be filtered by grade level and content. Educators can also utilize the search tool to locate videos that match their descriptions.
1. Make a plan for what videos you would like to capture
Think about what types of skills you would want to gather as exemplars for others within your organization. You may have some strong teachers that are demonstrating effective teaching strategies that others could benefit from seeing. Once you have determined what types of videos you would like to gather for others you can begin to record. Click here to read about more ideas for creating an Organization Library.
2. Record and upload the videos to your personal library
The easiest way to record and upload a video is to use Google Chrome browser. This will work on Android, Chromebook, Mac, & PC.
To learn how to record a video from the browser use this help article: How to upload a video from web browser
The other two popular ways of uploading a video into Edthena are using iOS or uploading a video that is already recorded to your device.
The links below provide you with directions on how to upload a video with either method.
Once your video has been uploaded you can enter information about the video. You may want others to have the ability to view supporting documents such as a lesson plan or other classroom artifacts that are connected with the video. You have the ability to attach and/or link any of these materials. This resource shows you how to enter information and attach documents.
If there is a smaller segment of the video that you would like others to focus on, you can trim it down into a new video. The new highlight will require you to include the same basic information like you did the first time. Learn how to highlight, clip, or trim, a video after uploading.
3. Choose how you will nominate the video to the Organization Library
Videos can be nominated either from your personal library or from a group it is shared with. Some organizations choose to share a video with a group first. By doing this they can have a feedback conversation and tag specific moments in a video that are connected to their framework. However, sharing a video with a group is not necessary in order to nominate it to the Organization Library. Some organizations instead will have people nominate a video straight from their personal library.
Option 1: Nominate directly from your video library
To nominate a video click on the video from your personal library. Next, click the "Nominate" button.
Some organizations prefer to share videos to groups for discussion and then nominate the videos to their library. Or, maybe you are watching a teacher's video and think it could be a great video for the library.
In either of these cases, you can nominate a video that is already shared with a group.
While anyone can nominate a video from a Conversation, the person who uploaded the video must approve the nomination. A notification will be sent to the uploader when their video has been nominated.
4. Wait on your Library Manager to approve or decline the video nomination
The library managers within your organization can approve or decline any video that is nominated. This process must be completed before the video is available to your organization. You will not receive an email notifications when the video is approved (or declined) by the library manager.

As your Organization continues to collect more exemplar videos, be sure to check out what has been added. Utilize videos within the Organization Library to engage others in professional development conversations or to help others see best practices in action.
If your entire organization has access to your Organization Library, be sure to share access with others who may not know about the library. The Organization Library can be accessed by going to library.edthena.com
